Scholarships become available at different times throughout the year. As they become available I will post information about them on this page, so check back here often! You can usually print application forms directly from the provided websites, however, you can always drop by my office to pick up applications as well!


2015-2016


The Joyce Foundation: The College of the North Atlantic  has announced a new bursary program open to all high school students in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador who wish to pursue a college education.  A new bursary program established by The Joyce Foundation has secured funding for students who wish to enter college but may not have the financial means to do so. 2014-2015

  • The Stewardship Association of Municipalities would like to announce a scholarship opportunity for high school and post-secondary students in Newfoundland and Labrador. This $1000 scholarship recognizes students from Newfoundland and Labrador whose interests, activities and post-secondary goals are focused on the conservation of habitat in Newfoundland and Labrador. The scholarship is open to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador: (1) who are (or will be) enrolled in a post-secondary program and (2) who have demonstrated an active commitment to conservation in Newfoundland and Labrador.   • Women's Institutes Scholarship: Every year the Nfld & Labrador Women’s Institutes organization awards a $500.00 scholarship to a student in Level 3.This award is based on received grades, an essay, a letter of reference and a resume of extracurricular activities. Applications must be received by Nov 30 2015. Applications can be found here.

  • The Wild Things Scholarship: This $1000 scholarship recognizes the enthusiasm and efforts of a student whose volunteer activities have helped to conserve or enhance nature in Newfoundland.   • Newfoundland and Labrador Education Foundation Scholarship: The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District Scholars will be students who demonstrate outstanding school or community leadership and involvement in addition to academic achievement.Each Scholarship is $1000.   • The Beaverbrook Vimy Prize: The Beaverbrook Vimy Prize is awarded on the basis of essay submissions, reference letters, and motivation letters. Participants must have a 70% grade average at school and demonstrate leadership skills. Winners will take part in an intensive scholarship program in Europe, participating in educational seminars and museum events, including visits to the iconic Vimy War Memorial and other historic battlefields and gravesites.   • Top 20 Under 20 Award: The Top 20 Under 20™ award annually recognizes 20 of the nation’s brightest youth, under the age of 20, who are having a meaningful impact via their outstanding leadership, innovation and accomplishments.   • Cal LeGrow Foundation: This scholarship is for students who demonstrates a strong commitment to helping others within their community - avid volunteer within their community with their efforts focused around poverty and youth issues.   • Nelson Civic Leadership Scholarship: Nelson Education's mission is to enable the success of Canadian students. They recognize students who are committed to continued civic engagement and leadership. If you are one of these leaders, you have an opportunity to receive one of three $5000 scholarships!   • The Ella Manuel Scholarship: This scholarship is being offered to assist a young woman from Newfoundland and Labrador to further her education in topics related to social, cultural and environmental well-being of the province.   • The Vimy Pilgrimage Award: Recognizes young people who demonstrate outstanding service, positive contributions, noble deeds, bravery or leadership. The award consists of a fully funded, week-long educational program in Europe to study Canada's tremendous First World War effort. For further information and application forms please click here.

  • Research Inspired Student Enrichment (RISE) Awards:   This Award will provide up to 12 students with the opportunity to participate in programs with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.   • Loran Award: The Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation grants Loran Awards to talented young Canadians on the basis of character, service and leadership potential.   • TD Scholarships For Community Leadership:   This Scholarship is available to all students across Canada who are now in their final year of High School. It is awarded to students who have displayed community leadership through various initiatives and innovations. Application Deadline is December 7th, 2012!   • No Borders High School Scholarship:  This scholarship is for graduates of NL high schools hoping to pursue post secondary education in the coming year. This scholarship program, created for the graduates of Newfoundland and Labrador high schools has a value of $500 per year and seeks to award a student with the qualities noted in the application such that they may pursue a post-secondary education with less of a financial burden and will themselves be inspired to partake in a life of service to others. 2011-2012

  • Burger King Scholars:  High school seniors, Burger King Employees and children of Burger King employees are all eligible to apply for this shcolarship which could be worth $50,000, $25,000 $5,000 or $1,000.Check out www.haveityourwayfoundation.org/bksp_scholarship_eligibility.html
  • Women Interested in Skilled Trades:  The Long Harbour Employers Association and the Resource Development Council formed a partnership for a dynamic work force to create awareness and funding for women and other underrepresented groups in the construction industry.   • Schulich Leader Scholarships:  Schulich Leader Scholarships are undergraduate entrance scholarships for students enrolling in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) areas of study at selected universities. Each scholarship to be awarded shall be in the total amount of $60,000. The granting of scholarships shall start with the academic year commencing in Fall 2012.   • Memorial University and Marine Institute: All applicants to MUN and MI are automatically considered for entrance scholarships based on averages earned in Level III credits.

  • Important Note: Students are also encourage to check with their parents to see if their are any scholarships available from their employer. Many associations and unions offer scholarships and awards to their employee's children. For example NAPE, CUPE, Newfoundland Light and Power all offer scholarships!
